The March of Penguins

So today I watched the movie March of Penguins. Honestly I did not know what to expect. But as I watched I was in a constant state of amazement. It is truely wonderful what animals can do! I can't even describe this movie in words; it has left me speechless and few movies have done this. What was even more shocking is what the film crew had to go through to film this beautiful movie. This was truely an eye opening film. Everyone should go see this movie!!!!

Christmas Day

So christmas was a blast. The family and I went over to my Aunt Nancy and Uncle Stanley's house to celebrate christmas. We got to take the sailboat out for a little bit and enjoy the beautiful day! The water was calm and it was about 70 and sunny. I couldn't ask for a better day to go out on the boat. Everyone I talked to was saying how it was cold and snowy...I did feel a little guilty for having such a warm day for christmas....florida is slowly becoming my Christmas place:)

Concerts a plenty

so wow so many good bands such little time....Deftones in Feb!!!!! Coldplay and Fionna Apple early March!!!!! Ultra musicfest spring break!!!!! oh I cannot wait for the spring to come:) nothing like music music music to make me happy....oh i'm on cloud 9 right now!!!!!!!!! the past 3wks have been amazing.....

Sex and the City

so I finally saw the last 3 episodes of Sex and the City...and unfortunatly it got me thinking....what is it about these shows that gets to us women?....is it the fact that it touches the hopeless romantic in all of us? and puts this "prince charming will come around and sweep you off your feet" scenerio in our head? or is it all true....can this actually happen? oh what we do for cute boys:) Thankgoodness for wonderful girlfriends or us women would truely be crazy:)

for now I am going to go cook dinner with Ben and enjoy a glass of wine and cheesy action movie:)

Less then 24hrs....

my first semester of grad school will be over in less then 24hrs!!!!!! It has been a very trying but wonderful semester....I have met some of the greatest people and we've shared many trials and tribulations together...nothing like stress and some drinking for bonding time:) I can't believe it is almost christmas!!!! In florida it looks as if we are stuck in the month of september..not that its a bad thing:) I am looking foward to my wonderfully long vacation....perhaps I can read a book that doesn't have anything to do with science....then in the spring I start playing soccer in the city league with fellow IDP'ers.....ALMOST DONE!!!!

Atlanta and Back Again!

so the trip to Atlanta for Turkey day was awesome! The girls took me out wed night to Atkins Park and Fontains....oh the highlands how did I miss you:) Then thursday I ate a ton of food and hung out with the family. Friday I went to Lenox (thank goodness for real malls) and spent way too much money b/c beth is a very bad influence!!!!! thanks beth i'm loving my purse:) and then I hung out at the Balls house hahahahahahahaha did you hang the sign yet beth????? and then saturday went to Zoe's and rusans and enjoyed some martini's and saki!!!! mmmmmm good old atlanta:) can't wait to come back for new years!!!!! Thanks girls for the wonderful time!!! I miss you all:)

I need a vacation!!!!!!!

wow this past week has been crazy!!!! Nothing in the lab wanted to work until about thursday so I've been working all weekend to get data on about 8 hrs of sleep...I love it!!!!! but so far things look good...sleep would be nice but I have a test on wed that I need to study for...

oh and silver spray paint is not fun on my car thanks!!!! stupid truck dropped a can off the back and I swirved to not hit it and ended up running over it...I get out of the car and my driver side is full of silver spray paint...oh and my car is making funny noises...man when it rains it pours....

on a lighter note...I'm almost home in the ATL to celebrate with friends:) If it wasn't for great friends in ATL and g'ville I wouldn't have made it through this week:) ok back to work....JUST BREATHE!!!!!

14 days!

14 days from today I will be back in the ATL and I can't wait!!!!!!!!!! I never thought I would miss atlanta soo much. I most def miss martini's with the girls, rusans with zoe, IKEA, crazy shanagins with Beth, a bottle of shiraz with Dayna, shopping, etc. etc. etc. It will nice to get away from school and science for a bit...my brain hurts:(

new loves!

so sat I and aaron adopted two kitties! They are my new loves....they are the sweetest things ever:) The girl is sophie (my cat) and the boy is Sadik pernounded Sa-Deek(aarons cat)....They are bundles of fun.....ok I have to go back to studying now...

Georgia 10, Florida 14!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that's right bitches!!!!! Florida beat Georgia on saturday!!!!!!!!!! some of us got togther to watch the game at Marks apartment....I took some pics of us there and a beautiful Florida sunset....

Halloween Party

Friday night was the IDP costume party at the Big House....We all dressed up and it was a ton of fun....sara and I dressed up as eachother and Jeremiah dressed up as "that guy" hahahahahahhaha...it messed with a lot of people....Aaron was a fighter pilot, Mark was Cloud from Final Fanatsy 7, and Li was the guy in the scary mask:) good times were had by all....Unfortunatly I don't have pics from the party, YET!!!!

DRG heaven or hell?

so this week has been a loooooonnnnnnnggggggg week. I had my genetics test on tues (not talking about it) and a lot of work to do in the lab. This week I got to take out DRG's for the first time:) it was hard but interesting too! I actually got to cut the DRG's, stain them, and look at them under the microscope....they are interesting little buggers:) But I am really excited because starting monday I actually get to start on MY project. My control animals will be ready for perfusion and then I get to do some immunofluorescence on them....I never thought I would be this excited to do immunofluorescence again:) Another good thing this week was I got to go to a wine tasting which was a charity event for the arthritis foundation! That's the good thing about working at a med school...they have lots of oppertunities to participate in charity stuff. Well the gang and I were supposed to go to St. Augustine's today to enjoy the beach and take a haunted tour but the stupid hurricane ruined our plans:( off to watch some football!!!!!

Rotation #1

Today is my second day in my first rotations lab. things are going good so far....I've read a ton on spinal cord injury and I am learning alot. tomorrow I'll be cutting DRG's and then thursday I'll be doing surgery w/ injections into the colon. I even have my own desk and my own computer in my own little lab....It feels good to be back in a lab:)

Homecoming Day

Friday was homecoming at UF and the entire town of gainesville shut down. Even classes were cancelled for the day! There was a parade at noon, soccergame, volleyball game, gator growl, and then the football game on sat. It was a good time to get the hell out of town!!!! and that's what sara and I did!!!! The sara and shelby show went on the road to Tampa to go visit sara's friend megan. We went to Ybor City which looked very simular to Bourban Street in New Orleans but the smell wasn't there! We had a wonderful time drinking Long Islands and playing pool. It was a good escape out of gainesville for the time being:) Now its time to watch football and go play in a kickball tournament. Oh its great to be a Florida Gator!!!!!!

Retail Therapy

so today I decided since I've been sick all week that I would go to the mall and buy some 'me' things. Sara and I had a blast....I don't think I've had soooo much fun shopping in a long time! way to go retail therapy:) now I have to study for a test:( I really hope this stupid sinus infection goes away soon. Only 'I' would get sick in florida..... geez:)

My 24th Birthday

I am sooo very lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful people that made my birthday well, my birthday!!!! It started out with my first test in graduate school and ended with the 'swamp juice bucket'!!! It was great times dancing in the street and singing to 80's songs. I love this place and all my new friend here. I wish the people I love the most could have been here...it would it made it that much better. Cheers!!!!

Florida football is crazy down here! All you see on Sat. is orange and blue everywhere. People are singing the Gator fight song in the streets, people are grilling next to the stadium, and everyone is having a good time!
