Today in summary

First things first...today is the 10th day w/o a Diet coke and 4 days w/o anything caffinated! With that out of the way:) so today has been a great day...the weather outside is beautiful...I actually got out of the lab for lunch and got to enjoy it...usually a bunch of us in the program have lunch out on the steps (a big courtyard type place in the middle of all the research buildings) but today I was the first one out there so I got to enjoy some much needed time to myself...a comment from one of the upper classmen ammused me and got me thinking. He came up to me and asked why I was sitting alone, but he made it sound like it was a bad thing. So it got me thinking about how people don't treasure their time to themselves at all anymore. It sort of made me chuckle that people find sitting by oneself a bad thing. I was perfectly happy sitting in the sun by the waterfountain enjoying the beautiful day and not talking to anyone. Why does there have to be one other person or a whole group of people around me?
Anyways, continuing on with my day....I finished my ICC on whole mount intestine today and the fluorescence tag for the NMDA splice variants acutally worked out!!!!!!!!!! Yesy(the grad student in the lab that I've been working with) and I are balls to the wall happy:) This is wonderful because I helped develop the protocol for the lab and now I get my name on the paper that's being resubmitted to the Journal of Neurochem on monday!!!!!!!! However, this is fairly ironic since my first author manuscript hasn't even been submitted and my name is getting put on a paper for a rotation project:) anyways, it makes me happy b/c I've worked hard and now I am getting rewarded for it:) so all in all today has been a GREAT day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a thought....

why is it that people who are unhappy in their lives try to make people, who are perfectly happy with their life, miserable too?

poo on negativity!

3 Day Weekend!!!!!! (cont.)

After the Beach Ben, April, Mark, and I went to the town of St. Augustine since I've never been there....There were lots of cute little shops, wine places, and of course a fudge shop (it does not beat swiss chocolate).

The oldest fort in the United States built in the late 1500's

Another beautiful sunset in Florida...I don't think there's ever a bad one:) So all in all...the weekend was wonderful!!!!!!!!!!

3 Day Weekend!!!!

So this lovely 3 day weekend started on friday. A bunch of us went to the swamp for dinner since we havn't seen people since our last test 4 long weeks ago. After that, Sara, Jeremiah, Mark, Ben, and I went to my place and watched this awful zombie movie from Japan called "wild zero" which came complete with a drinking game built in....ironically, as you drank more the movie got better hahahahahahaha. Then on Saturday, Jeremiah, Sara, Andrew, and I went to the UF basketball game to watch the gators beat Auburn...GO GATORS!!!! NO. 2 IN THE NATION AND 16-0 BITCHES!!!!!!!!!

On Sunday, we (Sara, Jeremiah, Mark, April, Ben, and I) went to St. Augustine beach to chill and relax....I can't believe I was at a beach in January but it was an amazing 70 and sunny day:) We passed around the football, kicked a soccer ball, read a book, and just enjoyed the wonderful day:)

New Years in the ATL

So New years in the ATL could be decribe in one phrase: OUT OF FUCKING CONTROL!!!! Once sara and I drove in to atlanta we went straight to zoe's where she was waiting with the famous 'zoe martini' after the rule of 3 we all met up with the rest of the gang at RuSans where we all ate way tooo much sushi as always and perhaps a little tooo much saki (nothing new there).

For new years eve we were at Beth and Matt's house to celebrate and celebrate we did....the alcohol list included: 1 giant bottle of jager, 9 bottles of champagne, 2 giant bottles of wine, vodka, tequilla, rum, saki, redbull, and guiness...use your imagination on the drinks made because someone was probably drinking it....the night was filled with lots of dancing, lots of falling on the floor, the repeated phrase of SAKI TIME!, and just a damn good time:) visiting the ATL was definatly fun and a damn good way to ring in the new year:)
